Interior renovations and an addition to provide an expansion for the introduction of a Percutaneous Coronary Intervention program for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. The project required the infill of an existing three-storey light-well, as well as additions to the existing mechanical penthouse and patient wing to accommodate a patient short-stay recovery suite with nursing station. This design met all the client goals and maximized use within the existing building footprint. The angioplasty suite was designed around four functional program areas; reception and waiting, preparation-holding and recovery, procedure area, and support area. The new patient short stay room was built to accommodate six patient stretchers, a nursing station and two barrier free patient washrooms.
